Our latest trip away from home was a two-night getaway to Benidorm, where we stayed at Hotel Villa España, a beautiful beachfront hotel overlooking Poniente Beach to celebrate our wedding anniversary.
Because this was a special trip, we decided to splash out on one of the hotel’s top suites. Our home for two nights was a gorgeous top-floor room with a huge wrap-around terrace, private jacuzzi and stunning sea views.
It was the perfect place to relax and unwind — but what is Hotel Villa España Benidorm really like to stay in?
Here’s our honest take after two nights.

The Alicante Suite – Room 602
Our suite was Alicante (Room 602) and, frankly, it was bloody wonderful.
The room has two super-sized beds pushed together, a generous seating area and plenty of storage, with large wardrobes and useful drawers underneath the beds.
On arrival, we found the minibar stocked with a complimentary bottle of cava, a couple of beers and some soft drinks. If you stay on the all-inclusive package, I believe the beers and soft drinks are replenished daily.
But the real star of the room is outside.
The Terrace and Private Jacuzzi
The wrap-around terrace is enormous and gives the suite a real sense of space.
We were lucky with the weather, so we spent our first evening outside, enjoying the jacuzzi and the sea views.
There is one thing worth knowing, though. Because of the angle of the hotel, the suite isn’t directly facing the main promenade in the way you might expect from a completely front-line room.
Instead, you’re quite close to the neighbouring residential balconies. We were even close enough to see one chap hanging his washing out!
It didn’t bother us in the slightest, but if complete privacy is important to you, it’s worth bearing in mind.
For us, the huge terrace more than made up for it.

A Very Quirky Bathroom Layout
The bathroom arrangement is probably the strangest thing about the suite.
The toilet is tucked away in its own little private room, which is actually quite useful.
The shower, however, is in the main bedroom.
And then there’s the sink, which doubles as a room divider and coffee station.
It’s certainly an unusual layout, although we quickly got used to it.
Large refillable toiletries are provided and attached to the wall, which is a nice touch. Slightly less impressive are the additional small, single-use plastic toiletries provided alongside them. It feels rather unnecessary when the hotel already has the refillable system in place.
Breakfast at Hotel Villa España
Hotel Villa España caters for everything from room-only stays through to all-inclusive, so breakfast is a substantial help-yourself buffet.
There is plenty of choice, including a full English breakfast, continental meats and cheeses, pancakes and the usual selection of cereals, fruit and pastries.
However, we were surprised by the lack of Spanish options.
There was no tortilla and no tomate rallado for toast — two things we’d have loved to see at a Spanish hotel.
The breakfast room was also absolutely buzzing, even at 8:30am.
Some guests were already happily starting the day with a breakfast beer or glass of cava. We headed straight for the coffee instead.
Unfortunately, the coffee wasn’t great. It came from a push-button machine using instant powder rather than freshly ground coffee.
On our second morning, one of the two machines broke down, creating a huge queue.
We gave up.
Instead, we had a very small breakfast, headed back upstairs and made a proper Nespresso in our room before sitting out on the sunny terrace.
Our verdict on breakfast
You certainly won’t go hungry, but breakfast was our least favourite part of the stay.
We prefer a slower and quieter start to the morning, and a fresh egg station would definitely improve things.
That said, if you’re someone who enjoys a big buffet breakfast — particularly if you’re staying all-inclusive — there is plenty to choose from.
The Highlight: The Amanara Wellness Ritual
For us, one of the biggest highlights of the stay was the Amanara Wellness Ritual at the hotel’s onsite spa.
If you’re looking for a really good spa experience in Benidorm, this is something we’d happily recommend.
It’s a five-stage journey lasting around an hour and a half:
- Sauna and ice bath
- Steam room
- Simulated rainforest shower
- Flotation tank
- Hydrotherapy pool
What made it particularly enjoyable was the attention to detail. Each stage is paired with its own drink and snack, so the whole thing feels much more like a proper wellness experience than simply spending some time in a hotel spa.
We found it incredibly relaxing and would definitely do it again.

How Much Does Hotel Villa España Cost?
We stayed at Hotel Villa España in April 2026 and paid around €200 per night for a Bed & Breakfast stay in the Alicante Suite.
Interestingly, when we booked, upgrading to Full Board or All-Inclusive would have cost less than €10 extra per night.
That’s exceptional value if you’re planning to eat and drink mainly at the hotel.
Prices will obviously vary depending on the room, dates and board basis, so it’s worth checking both the hotel and booking sites before booking.
You can check current prices and availability through the hotel’s official website or compare deals on Booking.com.
Would We Stay at Hotel Villa España Again?
Absolutely.
We’d give Hotel Villa España 4.5 out of 5.
The hotel has a lot going for it: a fantastic beachfront location, beautiful rooms, excellent outdoor space, a great spa and — in the case of our suite — a genuinely spectacular terrace and jacuzzi.
There were just a couple of things that stopped it getting the full five stars.
The spa timing
Our Amanara Wellness Ritual was moved twice because the previous booking had overrun. By the time we started, we felt slightly rushed, which was a shame because the treatment itself was excellent.
The early wake-up call
On the morning of check-out, housekeeping came into our room at around 10:30am despite the Do Not Disturb sign being displayed.
Our official check-out time was 12 noon, so this was an unnecessary interruption to what should have been a leisurely final morning.
Neither issue was a deal-breaker, though.
Overall, Hotel Villa España is a fantastic place for a short Benidorm break, and we’d happily return — particularly if we could get that terrace again.
