About The Jasmine Journal

The Jasmine Journal is an independent travel publication celebrating memorable places to stay and the experiences that make travelling special.

From stylish boutique hotels and seaside retreats to characterful city stays and tropical resorts, we share our own experiences of the places we visit, alongside practical details to help you plan your next trip.

Our approach is simple: honest impressions, beautiful places and useful information, without losing sight of what makes a stay memorable.

Whether you’re planning a weekend escape or looking for inspiration for a longer adventure, we hope The Jasmine Journal helps you discover somewhere wonderful.

About Us

Our travels began in 2006, when we set off on a nine-month adventure around the world, exploring Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

Since then, we’ve returned to some of our favourite destinations while continuing to discover new ones. We spent a month exploring Thailand in 2010 and again in 2012, followed by a three-month European road trip in 2015, visiting thirteen countries. In 2016, we travelled through Thailand, Malaysia and Australasia, before returning to Southeast Asia and Australia in 2024 and discovering Bali later that year. In 2025, we added India to our travels.

We’ve now explored forty countries together, staying in everything from boutique hotels and beachside resorts to guesthouses, homestays and campsites.

Over the years, we’ve experienced some truly memorable stays, but not every hotel has been perfect. We believe there’s value in sharing the less-than-perfect experiences too, because what matters most to one traveller might not matter to another.

The Jasmine Journal brings together our first-hand experiences, honest opinions and practical observations to help you decide whether a place might be right for you. These are our impressions, drawn from our own travels, and we hope they provide inspiration and useful guidance for your next adventure.
