Some hotels stay with you long after you’ve checked out. Hard Rock Hotel Penang is one of those places.
It’s been over ten years since we stayed in Batu Ferringhi, but we still look back on our three days at this hotel with happy memories.
So why is Hard Rock Hotel Penang so great?
The Lagoon Deluxe Room
Our Lagoon Deluxe room in Batu Ferringhi is the only pool-access room we’ve ever stayed in, and it was a real treat. One day, I’d love to experience it again somewhere else.
The room had a really comfortable bed, a stylish bathroom, a Nespresso machine with plenty of coffee pods, a Bose music system and a 50-inch TV. Outside, our private deck led straight to the shared swimming pool. It was often so quiet that it felt almost like having a pool to ourselves.
We had already been travelling in Malaysia for a while, first in George Town and later spending a few days at Shangri-La and the Holiday Inn, both in Batu Ferringhi so we had covered most of the area. We spent our three days at Hard Rock being totally lazy.
Sometimes all you need is a beer or a book by the pool (which often felt like our own private pool). A nap listening to decent music.
Most of the stay we had room service though we did venture to the Hard Rock Cafe one evening. Mostly we ate western style food. That’s super unusual for us as we are big fans of asian food, but Hard Rock does a mean club sandwich. It knows a thing or two about cheesecake. And sometimes, the gut appreciates a break from the chillies.

Batu Ferringhi Beach
The hotel is moments from Batu Ferringhi beach, and when we were not lazing by the pool we burned a few calories walking the 4km beach of this beautiful sandy shore line. It has the best sunsets, so we enjoyed sitting and watching the beach sports, stopping in the beach bars for a drink, and peacefully watching the world go by.

How Much Does Hard Rock Hotel Penang cost?
We stayed at the Hard Rock in March 2016 so pricing has undoubtedly changed since then.
Prices will obviously vary depending on the room, dates and board basis, so it’s worth checking both the hotel and booking sites before booking.
You can check current prices and availability through the hotel’s official website or compare deals on Booking.com.
Would We Stay at Hard Rock Hotel Penang again?
We would love to return!
Absolutely. We’d love to return.
Hard Rock Hotel Penang was a fun, comfortable place to spend a few lazy days. The food was good, the service was excellent, and the Lagoon Deluxe room made the stay particularly memorable.
Having direct access to the pool was a real treat, and it’s still one of those hotel experiences we remember fondly ten years later.
